Which device model did you choose?
Madison STREAMER
Why did you make this choice and what were your expectations?
I have always loved sound, the search for the right vibration, the search for the product that will change everything.
We change speakers, amplifiers, speakers, amplifiers and too often we neglect the source.
The famous audiophile "quest" that the Anglo-Saxons would call in an almost pathological way "upgraditis"...
During this quest, I obviously switched from passive speakers to active speakers, in this case the Beolab 50, whose particularity is to free itself from the acoustic constraints of the room by controlling the diffusion of the sound (beam) towards the listening area while cancelling the rear and lateral resonances.
Nevertheless, my room is treated, acoustic panels, walls, and ceiling... in short you understood it I am a "control freak"...
To such an extent that we end up listening to our system instead of listening to the music... The speakers allow us to work on the voicing... So, we add a little more level at 60Hz, we decrease it at 3 kHz, and in the end, we forget about the music.
You end up with a very straight, clean, and lifeless system. A dematerialized music that I would describe as devitalized...
What setup did you organize around our product?
• Madison STREAMER
• Loudspeakers B&O Beolab 50
What are the results?
Less than 24 hours after placing my order, I received my new Wattson Streamer DAC, the Madison STREAMER, and a pair of Black Magic RCAs from Mad Scientist.
It may seem counter-intuitive to add a DAC and therefore an extra conversion, it may seem counter-intuitive to add an analogue cable rather than attacking the speakers in digital?
However, this is where it all starts, the music becomes obvious, fluid, you no longer think about touching the voicing of the speakers, you stop thinking you're an engineer behind your console tweaking everything, you become an amazed listener, everything is at the right place: an incredible articulation between the low and midrange, silky highs and a sound...
I wrote that the Madison STREAMER added soul to my system, but that is not a reflection of the reality, the Wattson Madison STREAMER and the Black Magic gave soul and breathed life into my system.
Wattson have mastered the streaming part perfectly and the DAC is just implemented with mastery. Technical talk would be out of place here as the listening experience is so oriented towards pleasure and evidence.
It's not an addition, it's emulation. It's no longer technical, it's almost esoteric...
The tracks go by, I listen to them until the last note, I feel the same pleasure I had as a child in front of these vinyls which gave me at each listening, an experience that I would qualify as living, vibratory...
What else?
Just thank you!
